How to Use Snapchat Memories
The unforgettable new feature that will change the way you snap!
For the first time ever, Snapchat is allowing users to save and share old photos. Considering that disappearing content was once the app’s USP, this recent update marks a huge shift in the way that it operates.
Not only will memories change the way that users send and share their snaps, it will also provide brands and marketers with exciting new advertising opportunities.
To help you make the most of this new feature we’ve taken a look at some of Memories' key elements and shared our findings below…
What Are Memories?
Memories is basically a collection of your favorite Snapchat moments. Simply swipe up from the Camera screen to get started. Users can either save new snaps to this area or import photos and videos from their camera roll.
Will People Know if I Upload an Old Image?
Yes, if you post a Snap that was taken more than a day ago to your Story, it will appear with a frame around the edge and a time stamp.
What’s For My Eyes Only?
This is a password-protected area of Memories that allows you to store private snaps. Images that you save here won’t be visible anywhere else in the app.
Can I Create Memory Specific Stories?
Memories can be used to create new Stories from Snaps you’ve taken, or combined with different Stories to create a whole new narrative. This feature will be especially handy on birthdays or anniversaries.
Can I Still Save Images to My Camera Roll?
Saving an image to your camera roll isn’t as straight forward as it used to be but it’s still possible. Once you’ve saved your snap to Memories, tap the image and then ‘Edit & Send’, click the drop-down menu in the top right corner and press ‘Export Snap’.
How Do I Use the Search Function?
Memories has a handy new search function, which includes object recognition. Type in keywords like 'people' or 'make up' to find what you’re looking for. There are also location and date search options too.
